Cinnamon Honey Porridge

Truth be told, I do not like steel cut oats. But did you know that when you cook steel cut oats with old-fashioned rolled oats you, it makes the most delightful texture? The rolled oats, which were once too soggy, and the too crunchy steel cut oats now combine to make a perfect porridge. We're currently expecting snow for the next few days, and when the climate drops to a certain temp I inevitably make this warming dish. Hope you're all staying cozy.

Open Tabs: 12 Recipes

Is there anyone else out there who leaves browser tabs open on their phones for let's say, oh, I don't know...sometimes years?? I've decided to finally close out some of those tabs, but keep them here in case I decide I'd actually like to take action on them instead of being a digital hoarder. Here are a few recipes I kept open "just in case." Let me know if you end up trying any of them!

*Update* A week or two after I put these recipes into this blog post I accidentally closed out ALL of my tabs on the browser. Sad! All the things that I didn't have use for at the time or didn't want to read right away...now lost...ah well.

Summertime Vibes

Aside from the 106° weather, we are feeling all the summertime vibes: swim lessons, outdoor camp, ballet class, sunscreen, farmer's markets, watermelon, staying up late, library visits, craft time, etc, etc. I just love this time of the year. Especially since we now live in a country where it's nearly a crime not to have air conditioning.

How to Eat Breakfast Like a Parisian

Have you ever wondered, "what is a typical breakfast in France"?

Thanksgiving in America: My 2020 Recipes

This is the first time in three years that I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving state-side, and best of all with family! My husband and I just hosted Thanksgiving with my side of the family this past weekend, and next week we'll be traveling to visit his family for the holiday. So we'll have two Thanksgivings this year to make up for some of that time abroad.

8 Easy Recipes for Cold Weather Weeknight Meals

Has 4 or 5 o'clock ever rolled around you find you've found yourself wondering, "What should I make for dinner tonight"? Me too, me too. Meal planning can be a pain, so I thought I would share a few of my go-to dinners with you. I made all of these recipes while living in Paris and would cycle through many of them throughout the long fall and winter season. Each of them is a nice, warming meal, but more importantly, an easy meal.

Sanguine Cake

I know this is not really a post you would expect to see from me after months and months of posting about nothing, but this has been buried for over a year and I felt like I needed to finally push the "post" button on it. So so much has happened-- we moved from Paris to...well, nowhere really, and during the covid crisis, no less. It's been a wild ride.

Crêpe Complet

We have a great little crepe stand across the street from our apartment, but seeing as how crepes have become a weekly craving for us, I decided it was time to learn how to make them.  And they're so easy! Our favorite crepe is the "crêpe complet"- it has ham, cheese, mushrooms and an egg. My husband closely observed the crepe man's technique, brought home what he learned, and is now a pro crepe maker (I love it when he adds something to his arsenal of things he can cook)!
