Sanguine Cake

I know this is not really a post you would expect to see from me after months and months of posting about nothing, but this has been buried for over a year and I felt like I needed to finally push the "post" button on it. So so much has happened-- we moved from Paris to...well, nowhere really, and during the covid crisis, no less. It's been a wild ride.

Do I miss Paris? Um. Yes. Everyday. But I'm also quite content with our new situation.  For one thing, we have a house! We're just renters, but it's a house! We also live just a few blocks away from my sister and brother-in-law, so we see them and their four munchkins multiple times a week. My mom, step-dad and sister (with her crew) live in town and I love that we can pop into each others homes whenever we want to.  When I look at photos of Paris it still feels like home to me, but family also feels like home.  We're not sure how long we'll be living here, but we're loving it while we are.

In other news, doesn't this cake look amazing! It was a delight to bake. I started following Linda Lomelino on instagram a few years ago- talk about a feast for the eyes! She posted this cake, which I thought looked so beautiful and sophisticated, and even though it seemed out of my league I decided to try baking it anyway.  It turned out to be a nice, simple recipe.

Here's the RECIPE for those of you who would like to make a simple cake from scratch while wowing your friends at the same time.  We'll keep it our little secret as to how easy it is.

Happy Wednesday, friends.

Bisous,
