Sticky Situation

I can't believe it's already been a year since I was enjoying home made sticky buns and waiting for my little bun in the oven to arrive (#bonjourbebedeux). About a month (or two) before she was born, I went through a crazy (like crazy!) baking phase. It didn't help that I had checked out both of Joanne Chang's cookbooks- FLOUR and FLOUR TOO.  Amazing.  I literally wanted to bake everything.

38 Weeks

So many contractions this week- I've thought a few times "this is it."  But then it wasn't. Ready to meet our little girl.

37 Weeks- Officially Full Term!

Feeling more uncomfortable than a beached whale these days.  The baby is turning into the right position, our house is getting cleaned tomorrow and I'm going to take the car in for a wash.  Now we just need the in-laws to arrive and we'll be all set! Come on bebe deux <3

Cheers,

Katrina

36 Weeks

I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow.  I pulled out all of the baby stuff in storage and started washing all of the baby clothes last night {nesting fever officially setting in}. Feeling ready. Kind of.  Eek.  A newborn and a toddler.  Life is about to get crazy(ER). Anyone have tips for a mama preparing for a second child?  Anything you didn't expect that you wish you had prepared for?  How did you get your first ready for the incoming usurper of time? Our little boy seems pretty excited for her arrival, but we'll see how he feels after she's here.  Either way.  We're ready to meet baby girl and to step into this new stage of life.

Cheers,

Katrina

Little Black Dress

We all need a little black dress.  Not much to note this week.  Still tired, but I think that's because of the toddler- not the baby bump.  We've transitioned to a toddler bed this week (*sniff sniff*). Just a reminder that my days as a mama of 1 kiddo are limited and I need give that little darling all the undivided attention I can. Happy fall, everyone!

IT'S A....

Neither of us were really surprised because this pregnancy has been so different compared with my first.  But at the same time it's still sinking in for me.  A girl!? Wow! Ahh!

We get together with friends every Wednesday night and decided to tell them our happy news with a happy dessert. I used Betty Crocker cake mixes (because...ain't nobody got time for scratch). I fancied up the white cake mix with the recipe below, and used THIS recipe for the frosting and filling.

White Almond Cupcakes

  • 1 package white cake mix
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 egg whites

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Fill cupcake pan with liners.
  2. Stir together the white cake mix, flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl until well mixed. Pour in the water, sour cream, vegetable oil, almond extract, and egg whites. Beat in a stand mixer until all the ingredients are well mixed.
  3. Scoop the batter into cupcake liners, and bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean (15-20 min). Allow to cool before frosting.

Baby Bump

I usually have my husband take my baby bump pictures, but when we took a trip to Texas a few weeks ago, my sister in law came to visit and was willing to snap a few in his place.  It was so great having someone say, "Ok, now look lovingly  at your tummy." And to have someone fix my hair. And tell me to put on lip gloss. And tell me not make that funny face. haha.  Austin people!  If you need a photographer you need to check out @annieeveryday!  She's so sweet, talented and wonderful to work with.  Thanks for the fabulous photos, Annie! (Also.  This is my favorite dress.  I'll be living in if for the next several months.)

Mignonne Bébé

It's me!  This sweet little bump caused trouble for me through the first trimester, but (hallelujah) we are through with that and I'm feeling like myself again. We're due in March and are oh-so-excited to become a family of four.
